Our conference location and accommodation is the historic Leucorea. Founded 500 years ago, it was one of the most renowned university in Germany. Important personalities like Martin Luther    and Phillip Melanchton   , appointed in 1508 and 1518, teached at Wittenberg University.

The LEUCOREA foundation was founded in 1994, with the goal to reestablish academic life in Wittenberg. Today, several rearch institution located in and by the Leucorea enrich the academic landscape in Wittenberg. Furthermore there is strong connection between the Martin-Luther-Universität and the LEUCOREA. On the one hand the university can benefit of the good infrastructure (conference rooms, lecture hall, seminar rooms) and on the other hand, the foundation can gain of the scientific potential.

We have pre-reserved affordable rooms in the Leucorea.

The payment of the registration fee of EUR 500 will be due to arrival. It includes accomodation and full board.

Please be also aware that you can move into rooms only at Sunday afternoon after 4pm and that you have to leave it on Friday. Please let me know if you need another accommodation at Lutherstadt Wittenberg the weekend before or after the meeting

Getting to Lutherstadt Wittenberg

Lutherstadt Wittenberg lies in the eastern part of Germany, in between Berlin (100 km) and Leipzig (70 km). Wittenberg can be reached easily by different means of transportation.

By Plane

There are different Airports you can fly into.

Berlin-Tegel (TXL, BER) and Berlin-Schönefeld(SXF, BER) are international airports with a huge number of connections ervery day.

Both airports don not have a direct train connection to Lutherstadt Wittenberg. Take a bus to the centre of Berlin/ Hauptbahnhof (coming from TXL, 20 min) or to Südkreuz Bhf (S), Berlin (coming from SXF, 20 min), where many connections are available onwards to Lutherstadt Wittenberg (40 min from central Berlin by ICE train).

By car or train, the journey time from Berlin to Lutherstadt Wittenberg is approximately 100 minutes (car rental service).

Leipzig-Halle (LEJ) airport may be a better choice. It takes 60 minutes from there to Lutherstadt Wittenberg. You can travel further by train or car (car rental service).

Attention If you buy a train ticket the destination must be Lutherstadt Wittenberg. Otherwise you are in danger that your destination is the similar named city of Wittenberge which is about 150kms away from Lutherstadt Wittenberg

Make sure you type in Lutherstadt Wittenberg! Otherwise you will head toward somewhere else!

By Car

Lutherstadt Wittenberg is located at the interstate roads B2 and B187.The Autobahn A 9 Berlin - Nuremberg - Munich can easily be reached (13 km).

From the Berlin Area and the North

Berliner Ring A 10 up to the Dreieck Potsdam. Exit to the A 9 to Leipzig - Nürnberg. Exit at Coswig and go on B 187 to Lutherstadt Wittenberg.

From the Leipzig Area and the South

A 9 to Magdeburg. Exit at Coswig and go on B 187 to Lutherstadt Wittenberg.

Getting from to the train station to Leucorea

The best thing to go from the train station to Leucorea is to take a taxi. Maybe several people arrive at the same time and could share a taxi. I'll post the arrival times (if I have it) to all participants such that they can organize themselves.

Note: Plan to arrive on October 3rd and leave on October 8th.
